Conventional lip gloss is built on petroleum byproducts and synthetic dyes that sit on top of your lips rather than doing anything for them — shine with no substance behind it, gone the moment you wipe it off.
Shelter Skin started somewhere different: the viral beauty hack of using pure lanolin nipple cream as a lip treatment. Lanolin is a natural humectant, pulling moisture in and sealing it with a breathable barrier that keeps lips hydrated far longer than most oils or waxes. They reimagined that hack as an actual product — ultra-pure lanolin and lanolin oil, sourced from New Zealand and purified to European Pharmacopoeia standards, paired with cold-pressed castor oil for glassy shine and pomegranate sterols to strengthen the lip barrier. Four shades share that same base: Slip, a clear everyday essential; Hibiscus, tinted with organic hibiscus powder; Cocoa, tinted with organic cacao; and Spice, a coral-red warmed with chili extract for a natural plumping effect.
Apply straight from the doe-foot applicator for a glassy, hydrated finish, or layer it over lipstick for shine. Non-sticky, comfortable enough for overnight repair, and worth reapplying simply because it feels good to.
Contains lanolin — not recommended for those with a lanolin allergy.
