In 2011, I was working toward becoming an endocrinologist because I wanted to help people heal. But the more time I spent in hospitals, the harder it became to watch people’s symptoms managed while the deeper questions went unanswered. So I walked away. Two years later, my husband and I opened a gym and wellness studio in Southwest Virginia, and I poured myself into functional and integrative medicine. I built a practice focused on getting to the root of health concerns. Yet by 2020, I saw a familiar pattern emerging: expensive supplement stacks, biohacking fads, and one-size-fits-all promises. I began looking more closely at the food we eat, the products we bring home, and the brands we’re asked to trust. The more I learned, the more frustrated I became. People wanted to make healthier choices, but greenwashed claims and endless options made it hard to know where to start. Again and again, they asked me, “Which brands can I actually trust?” WellHaus grew from that question. Through curated subscription boxes, an editorial, and an online marketplace, we give small, transparent brands the spotlight they deserve and people a place to discover them with confidence. WellHaus is about more than products. It’s about helping us make choices that reflect what matters to us—our health, our integrity, and our community.

I’ve always been the person who couldn’t leave a blank page alone. As a kid, a simple school project somehow turned into an elaborate presentation board, and my bedroom was in a near-constant state of being rearranged, repainted, or decorated with something I’d made myself. I didn’t know to call any of that design; I just loved taking an idea in my head and making it real. I went on to start a print design business creating planners and workbooks, then followed my curiosity into web and packaging design. Michelle’s vision for WellHaus drew me in because so much of it felt close to the way I want to live: asking better questions, making more thoughtful choices, and staying curious about where things come from. That curiosity has taken me well beyond my desk. My husband and I spent a year RVing across America in an 18-foot travel trailer—a crash course in deciding what you really need—before buying a piece of very raw land in northern New Mexico and building our home from the ground up. We collect our own water, store our own solar power, and are starting to grow our own food. I’m also up for just about any outdoor adventure, whether it’s a daily hike, caving, or jumping out of a plane. At WellHaus, I get to bring that same spirit of exploration to my work: learning as I go, untangling big ideas, and making something beautiful that feels easy for people to use.

I’ve always loved making things, but even more, I love making things that bring a little beauty or goodness into someone else’s life. I’m the person who can spot something in a shop or local market and immediately think, “I could make that.” Before long, I’m making a list, gathering supplies, and figuring out exactly how to bring the idea to life. Depending on the day, that might mean woodworking, painting, sewing, gathering flowers from the field, baking, canning, or making skincare. That instinct to create is probably matched only by my love of home and family. My husband and I have four adult children and wonderful spouses spread across the country, which gives us plenty of excuses to travel. When we’re all together, we’re usually hiking, boating, kayaking, biking, skiing, wandering through a museum or historical site, or gathering around the table over something we’ve made together. And wherever I go, my little chihuahua is usually along for the adventure, quite literally tucked into my purse. At home, I’m happiest with coffee and my Bible in the morning and soft lamps, twinkle lights, and candlelight in the evening. I love the small rituals that make everyday life feel warm and beautiful. That’s part of what I love about WellHaus. It gives me a place to bring together creativity, natural beauty, and the belief that the things we bring into our homes and lives should be thoughtful, useful, and genuinely good for the people who use them.
