About This Product
The aerosol dry shampoo recalls of 2021 and 2022 were the moment a lot of people looked at the can in their medicine cabinet differently. Benzene — a known carcinogen — showed up in products across dozens of brands, including many marketed as clean or premium. That's an aerosol format problem: the propellant chemistry is complicated, regulatory oversight is limited, and the contamination risk is structural.
The talc issue goes back further. Talc — the base ingredient in most powder dry shampoos — has been consistently linked to asbestos contamination, because asbestos occurs naturally in the same deposits where talc is mined. The FDA has flagged it. Major brands have reformulated after litigation. It's still one of the most common ingredients in the category.
We formulated around both problems. WellHaus Dry Shampoo Powder uses arrowroot powder and rice starch as the base — both absorb oil efficiently without buildup, without white cast, without the heaviness that coated-hair-shaft residue creates after a few uses. No talc. No aerosol. No synthetic fragrance.
The ritual is simple: shake a small amount at the roots, work it in with fingertips or a brush, and move on. It works immediately. It smells clean rather than fragranced. Your hair looks like you washed it because it has been, in the way that actually matters.
This is the version we use. We made it because nothing else we could find cleared the bar we hold everything else to.
