The pigment goes on, it catches the light, and everything underneath is exactly as dry as before you applied it. For a product you're pressing directly into your cheekbones, collarbones, and décolletage — often the areas most exposed to sun and wind — that's a significant missed opportunity.

Tallow Tints built Summer Bronze on the same foundation as their lip collection: Florida-farmed suet tallow, slowly rendered in-house from cattle raised on Florida pastures. Suet tallow — the fat from around the kidneys, the most nutrient-dense form — has a fatty acid profile (oleic, palmitic, stearic, palmitoleic) that closely mirrors human skin's own sebum. The result is an ingredient that absorbs rather than coats, carrying vitamins A, D, E, and K directly into skin tissue rather than forming a surface layer that wears off.

Cocoa butter adds deep emollient richness and a natural sun-filtering quality. Shea butter contributes anti-inflammatory fatty acids and vitamins A and F that support skin resilience — relevant for skin that's being regularly exposed to sun and heat. Beeswax provides the structural hold and a breathable moisture seal: unlike synthetic waxes, beeswax allows skin to breathe rather than occluding it. Coconut adds MCTs and a lightweight slip. Jojoba oil — the closest plant oil to human sebum — acts as the carrier that helps everything absorb without heaviness, keeping the formula from feeling greasy despite its richness.

The color comes from cosmetic grade micas — mineral-derived pigments that are among the most stable, safe, and well-characterized colorants in cosmetics. Cosmetic-grade designation means they meet regulatory safety standards for use near eyes, on lips, and on sensitive skin. Micas give Summer Bronze its warm, light-catching quality: not orange, not muddy — the kind of golden bronze that reads as a well-spent afternoon rather than makeup doing overtime.
